Ugyen is a highly experienced Lead Consultant, trainer, and finance professional with over two decades of work across research, training, policy analysis, and institutional development in Bhutan. He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Technology, Sydney, a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, along with a BCom (Honours) from the University of Delhi, India. He is a member of CPA Australia and is completing his CPA qualification.

Professionally, he has served as Chief Executive Officer and Head Consultant at the Institute of Management Studies, Chief Finance Officer at Bhutan Postal Corporation Limited, and Lecturer at Sherubtse College and Gedu College of Business Studies. Since 2019, he has worked as a national and international consultant on major assignments funded by the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNDP, IFAD, WWF, WFP, and other agencies.
His expertise spans financial planning and management, research and impact assessment, project management, curriculum development, system design, and capacity building. He has led numerous national studies on gender mainstreaming, value chain development, financial literacy, governance, tourism, agriculture, and community development.
Ugyen is also an accomplished trainer, delivering programmes in finance, leadership, entrepreneurship, research methods, and project management across government, private sector, and community organisations.
