Mr. Kuenzang Dorji currently serves as Associate Dean. Previously, he held the position of Programme Leader for the BA in Political Science and Sociology. Mr. Dorji holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from South Asian University, New Delhi, India.

Mr. Dorji played an instrumental role in the establishment of the BA in Political Science and Sociology in 2019, acting as one of the founding members of the programme’s teaching faculty. His dedication and expertise were pivotal to the successful launch of the programme, which admitted an inaugural cohort of 42 students.

In addition to his responsibilities as Associate Dean, Mr. Dorji is an active member of both the College Academic Board and the College Research Committee, where he contributes significantly to the development and implementation of research initiatives within the institution. Furthermore, he serves as the Focal Person for the Erasmus HAPPY Project, underscoring his commitment to fostering international collaboration and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and ideas.

He has also served as Staff Adviser to the Forum for Student Voice, a prominent student decision-making body within NRC. This role has afforded him valuable insights into the needs and aspirations of students, enabling him to facilitate cultivation of an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Mr. Dorji’s commitment to academic excellence is further reflected in his pursuit of advanced training in qualitative research methodologies in the Netherlands and Slovenia. With this advanced training, particularly in narrative and ethnographic studies, combined with a postgraduate certificate, he continues to enhance his research capabilities. His experience, dedication to research, and commitment to student development make Mr. Kuenzang Dorji a valuable asset to the college academic community.

Dr Haqnawaz Ahmad

Dr Haqnawaz Ahmad

Dr. Haqnawaz Ahmad holds a doctorate degree with a specialization in International Relations from Aligarh Muslim University. He completed his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from the same university. After earning his Ph.D., he has been teaching in colleges across Jammu and Kashmir for the past three years. His areas of interest include International Relations, Foreign Policy and South Asia. He has published several research papers and also has a research paper currently in the pipeline.

After completing his Masters degree, Dr. Aaditya worked as a visiting faculty in the Department of Management at Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University, Sikkim. He has also worked as a part-time teaching faculty at Accelerator Academy, Vision Academy and Smart Academy, Sikkim, India.

He has published three research papers pertaining to performance evaluation of banks operating in Bhutan and Evaluation of Non-Banking Financial Companies of India. He has presented his research papers in National and International conferences in India.Further, he researched and wrote a paper titled “A Study of Need of Microfinance in Southern Bhutan” for the fulfillment of his master degree.

Aaditya worked as an intern under the finance manager of ‘Government Fruit Preservation Factory’, Sikkim. Thus, the combination of his research, academic and industrial experiences will deeply contribute to the academic and personal development of the students.

After completing his DMA, he has worked as a performing musician, among others, in the Royal Opera ‘De Munt’ in Brussels, the New Belgian Chamber Orchestra, the Beethoven Academy, the Flemish Opera in Antwerp and Ghent and the Antwerp Philharmonic, and has given chamber music master classes for more than 20 years in France.He has worked in the Advanced Bachelor Global Citizenship and Development at the University College Leuven-Limburg as lecturer and practice lecturer for Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka since 2015.

He conducted his Masters research on “Understanding the Practice of Menstrual Taboos Amongst People in Southern Bhutan”. The research focused on the practice and existence of menstruation taboos that are widespread in both Buddhist and Hindu cultures in the Southern part of Bhutan. His research interests are in the field of gender studies, sexual and reproductive health, community development and environmental issues.With his research experience, Puran Gurung will be definitely enrich the learning of his students.
