Dr Sourav Basu is a distinguished academic and education strategist with around 15 years of experience in higher education. His academic journey is marked by notable accomplishments, including earning a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering, an MBA, a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources and Employment Relations, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and a Ph.D. in Management. A founding faculty member since 2017 and currently serving as Associate Professor and Education Adviser at Norbuling Rigter College, he has been instrumental in shaping the institution’s programmes, influencing curriculum reviews and ensuring alignment with national education objectives. He has contributed meaningfully to the College Visioning Exercise 2025, helping define the mission, core values, and strategic objectives, and has also played a key role in embedding robust quality assurance during accreditation and advancing long-term institutional development. Before joining Norbuling Rigter College, Dr Basu served as a Lecturer at Royal Thimphu College (RTC) in Bhutan for four years and also contributed as a Guest Lecturer at several colleges under the Techno India Group in India for around one and a half years.
An advocate of research-led teaching, Dr. Basu has authored two academic books, Management Theory and Practice and Organisational Behaviour and Culture, and has published widely in international peer-reviewed journals on leadership, human resource management and technology-enhanced learning. He serves as an international editor on the boards of several peer-reviewed journals, regularly supervises undergraduate research projects, mentors students and conducts professional development workshops for faculty with a focus on academic integrity, curriculum innovation and student-centred teaching. He has delivered keynote addresses and served as session chair at several international conferences. Beyond the classroom, he promotes knowledge exchange by advising entrepreneurs, hosting dialogues with industry professionals and participating in panel discussions that connect students with real-world perspectives.
Dr. Basu is recognised for his expertise in digital pedagogy and the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in education. As AI Focal Person, he has developed comprehensive AI policy frameworks and facilitated training programmes nationwide on AI literacy, prompt engineering and ethical use of AI. He has undertaken advanced training including the Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Research conducted by the Royal University of Bhutan, the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence’s One Million Prompters Programme, and certifications in generative AI ethics and advanced prompt engineering. These credentials collectively strengthen his capacity to design and deliver impactful faculty development initiatives on emerging technologies and digital learning.
His commitment to educational innovation has been recognised by the Patent Office, Government of India, which has granted a design patent in his name for his work titled “AI-Powered Dual-Screen Dashboard for Teamwork Enhancement”. He has also received a copyright in his name for his work titled “Collaborative Intelligence (CI): The Future Equation of Human-AI Synergy”. Dr. Basu’s contributions have been celebrated internationally with distinctions including the World Icon of Peace (2019), the 100 Most Dedicated Professors Award (2019), the Asia’s Best Researcher Award in Management (2023) and the Most Outstanding Global Educator and Researcher Award (2024). He is also an Individual Professional Life Member of the All India Management Association (AIMA), India’s apex body for management professionals.
