Norbuling Rigter College (NRC) was established with a clear purpose: to widen access to quality higher education in Bhutan and to prepare students for meaningful participation in society. In its early years, NRC began with a modest intake of students and a limited number of academic programmes. Close student–teacher engagement and values-based education were central to the College’s approach.
As the College grew, its academic offerings expanded in response to emerging educational and development needs. Academic governance systems, assessment practices, student support services, and administrative processes were steadily strengthened to ensure transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. This commitment to quality was formally recognised when NRC was awarded Grade “A” accreditation by the Bhutan Quality and Professionals Certification Authority (BQPCA) under the Ministry of Education and Skills Development, Bhutan.
Alongside academic development, NRC has invested in campus infrastructure, learning resources, and co-curricular opportunities to support holistic student growth. Leadership development, community service, and student participation in national and international forums have become important elements of campus life.
Today, Norbuling Rigter College stands as a growing and credible institution within Bhutan’s higher education landscape.
